FUNDRAISING EVENTS

 

Minister of Arts Leisure and Culture, Mr Edwin Poots, MLA participates in the opening of the Arts Centre exhibition in aid of the Buddy Bear Trust.

Mr Poots met Buddy Bear, the symbol of the campaign at the opening of the exhibition organised by Mr Conrad Cullen, Sales Director of the Arts Centre, Craigavon Cresent, Dungannon.

Mr Cullen made the Art Centre available for the month of October to display the work of over 30 amateur and professional artists from Northern Ireland.

 

Miss Ildiko Veres, Principal, Mr Colin Hampsey, Marketing Director for Tesco, NI, Mr Poots, Minister and Mr Brendan Mc Conville, Chairman of the Buddy Bear Trust.

 

Buddy Bear friends included Mr Dermott Cavanagh well known professional artist who is regularly on TV showing celebrities the joy of painting.

 

Included in the photograph are Mr Barry Monteith, Mayor of Dungannon, Mr Poots, Minister, Mr Conrad Cullen and the Ambassador for Lithuania and Members of the Arts Forum who organised an art festival in Dungannon at the beginning of October.

Mr Poots was presented with one of Mr Mc Conville's oil paintings intitled "A walk through the Mournes"

 

Included in the photograph is Mr Conrad Cullen and Mr George Savage, MLA, "Upper Bann" who has been a long time supporter of the Buddy Bear Trust.

 

 

The Minister was delighted to meet with so many artists who had given freely of their time and talent to support Buddy Bear Trust and to highlight the need for a Conductive Education Centre for Children with Cerebral Palsy.

 

Included in the photograph are Mr Francie Molloy, MLA, Vice Speaker and Mr Joan Carson, former MLA who is also a well know artist.

Claire, age 3 proudly shows Minister Poots her sister Cara's painting intitled "the Red Boat".

Cara age 5 was not able to attend the official opening because of football pratice.

Cara and other children with the encouragment of their parents wished to show their support for Buddy Bear.

Mr Francie Molloy, MLA and Mrs G Daily, former Principal of the Primate Dixon, PS, Coalisland and well known artist views the paintings which Mr Mc Conville presents to clubs and firms to help fundraising for the Buddy Bear Trust.

Mr Lewis Love Principal of Omagh High School meets Buddy Bear on the occasion when year 8 pupils presented a cheque to Mr B. Mc Conville.

 

Year 8 pupils received certificates of appreciation for raising funds and publicity for Buddy Bear.

 

Mr Mc Conville adressed all 400 students attending Omagh High School in October 2007.

Mr Mc Conville thanked the students for their support and generosity and encouraged them to write to the Minister of Education regarding the opening of a North/South Conductive Education Centre of Excellence.

 

One in 400 children in Northern Ireland is born with cerebral palsy, and the Buddy Bear School is the only Conductive Education School in Ireland.

Senior Pupils at Omagh High School pledged their support for Buddy Bear children.

 

 

Students at Omagh High School also raised funds for Riding for the Disabled, Omagh Branch.

 

Edendork Pipe Band hope to raise funds for the band, the parish and the Buddy Bear Trust by a series of events and sales.

Edendork Pipe Band has a long tradition in music all over Ireland and the UK.

The Band has produced a wonderful CD of its music for sale.

Brendan Mc Conville, Chairman of the Buddy Bear Trust presented one of his oil paintings to help with fundraising.

The Bog Man is oil 30"X 20" .

   

The Bog Man is one of many oil paintings that Brendan has donated to help raise funds for the Buddy Bear School.

Hopefully, clubs, organisations, firms and individuals has well as schools will help raise funds and public awareness to the needs of children with cerebral palsy.

   

St Patrick's Academy Dungannon: Donation to the Buddy Bear School

Mr Brian  Kerr, father of  Ella who is a pupils at the Buddy Bear school in Dungannon on behalf of the children parents and Trust thank the students and staff of St Patrick's Academy for their thoughtfulness and generosity when he received a cheque for £ £1000.

The money was raised by the  Year 10  Students.

"We are delighted to receive this donation to help protect and save the Buddy Bear School which has been educating children with cerebral palsy for 15 years until we meet with the First Ministers." Said Mrs Ceara,  Kerr mother of little Ella  who is at the school with other pupils.

Other schools, clubs and firms are asked to follow the example of the students from St Patrick's Academy by Brendan McConville, Chairman.

"The parents cannot believe that the Education Minister will not provide the funds and support as resolved by the Assembly on 19 Feb 2008. The parents have carefully explained their fears and hopes to the Minister for the future of their children.

Who can stand by and allow a child to be trapped by their own body when they can be helped with Conductive Education?

The community opened the Buddy Bear School in 1993. We are asking the community for help again".

Miss Veres presented Emma and David a copy of a signed photograph of the Tyrone Senior Team.  The Team took time from training to be photographed with Daniel Murphy a former Buddy Bear student who is campaigning to save the school from closure

Children with Special Needs: Public Meeting 2 Oct 2008 at 8.00pm

Parents of children with special needs particularly cerebral palsy, members of the  Community, Clubs, Friends, Politicians, Councillors and Church Representatives are invited to attend to public meeting in the Bank House Hotel, Irish Street Dungannon on  Thursday 2nd October at 8.0pm to establish a Support Group.
