Gary McCausland, TV Presenter & Property Developer makes a surprise visit!

Gary presents cheque to Buddy Bear Trust.jpgGary McCausland, TV Presenter and Property Developer made a surprise visit to present a cheque for £1000 to help with the work of the Buddy Bear Trust. While he was here he was  saw little Caleb Kerr take his first independent steps!

We were really delighted that Gary was present when Caleb and his teacher Miss Ildiko Veres, Principal decided to test Caleb’s walking skills for real. Caleb’s parents were present when he left the security of Miss Veres to take his first steps to his father Nigel. It might only have been a few steps but it showed that all the work carried out to date including balancing, head control and hand and eye co ordination as part of Conductive Education was successful. It is a start- a great beginning on the journey to greater independence.

Miss Veres showed Gary the progress the other children had made since his last visit and pointed out that many more children with cerebral palsy could benefit from Conductive Education. Early intervention for children with cerebral palsy is essential if any progress is to be made.

Gary who is a long term supporter of Buddy Bear Trust spent time with the children and parents as he encouraged them to have hope for the future. Gary said that he was delighted to have joined David Cameron PM, Dr Paisley, Cardinal Brady, Michelle Gildernew MP and the other MLAs as well as the Deputy US Consul General, Kevin Roland in contributing to the information promotional video being made by expert film maker, Barbara McCann.

Gary hopes that other parents will learn about the benefits of the Buddy Bear Trust School and will be encouraged to bring their children with cerebral palsy to it.

Gary who ran the Belfast Marathon for Buddy Bear encouraged others to take part in the Marathon or the Marathon Relay to raise funds for Buddy Bear Trust children with cerebral palsy.
