The Buddy Bear Trust & the CFNI Telecommunity Fund

Pride of Britain award winner Brendan McConville talks to CFNI about how our Telecommunity Fund has helped the Buddy Bear Trust.

Buddy Bear Trust founder Brendan McConville has been working for over 25 years to support children with Cerebral Palsy using a unique form of holistic education called Conductive Education at the Trust’s Dungannon based school.

Developed in Budapest’s Peto Institute, Conductive Education involves children receiving a combination of physiotherapy, speech therapy and occupational therapy for up to four hours per day; much more than would ordinarily be the case.

However, as Brendan has discovered over the years, funding the Buddy Bear Trust is an almost daily challenge but one which he has risen to with huge success. This includes receiving a special grant in 2015 from the Telecommunity Fund which was established with capital from BT management & unions and CFNI. It exists to support small, locally based grass roots community projects and is managed by CFNI...
