World Snooker Referee
GENEROUS GIFT FROM WORLD SNOOKER REFEREE TO BUDDY BEAR TRUST
Mrs Geraldine Donaghy, Buddy Bear Trust representative and volunteer from Blackrock with Mr Len Ganley and Miss Ildiko Veres, Principal.
Mr Ganley refereed four World Snooker Championship finals between 1983 and 1993, including 1990 when Stephen Hendry became the youngest World Champion. Another career highlight was the 1983 UK Snooker Championship final between Alex Higgins and Steve Davis.[2] Another famous match he refereed in his later career was Ronnie O'Sullivan's fastest 147 v. Mick Price in the 1997 World Championship first round.
Mr Ganley, a long time supporter of local charities presented a signed photograph of Stephen Hendry. The photograph is also signed by other world famous Snooker Champions. Mr Ganley hopes that it will encourage people particularly young people to support the Buddy Bear Trust.
Two Champions with Buddy Bear
Mr Ganley meets Mrs Mary Murphy and her son Daniel Murphy who won a silver medal for swimming in the Special Olympics last June.
